Races Group in Singapore

Hi There!

Singapore has multi races of people living here. Majority are Chinese. Follows by Malay, Indian and some Eurasian. With Singapore accepting more and more foreigner to be a Permanent resident, it is very common nowadays to find Filipinos, Indian of India origin or Chinese from China origin as part of the community.

With the diversitiy of the races, Singapore culture had been a unique one that all these races can be living in this little beautiful island as a one nation peacefully. Beside culture, each and everyone of the ethnic group had their own festivities and dishes that they particularly proud off.

The Singapore's Chinese will celebrate Chinese New Year which follows the Lunar Calendar. The Singapore's Malays have Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Hari Raya Puasa to celebrate after a month of successful Ramadan (or fasting month). The Singapore's Indian will celebrate their festival of Light or Deepavali. The Singapore's Eurasian of course will then celebrate the joy of Christmas together with the world. All this major days for the four major ethnic group in Singapore are declared as public holidays in Singapore. This is because each races can then celebrate with their neighbours and friends on those special day. Thus, this will lead to better understanding of other races and living harmoniously in our beautiful island of Singapore.

Oh! by the way, there are other public holiday in Singapore too that some part of the world celebrate like Good Friday, Vesak Day, Hari Raya Haji and Labour Day.
